It was getting dark. The smell of fresh pine filled The Element. We thought about the guy stuck in the H3 and wondered if he had made it out yet. Dublin fell asleep.

Eventually we exited and headed to Sammamish. Pine Lake Ale House. Time to be rewarded.

You’re tired. You’ve been in a a vehicle all day. You’ve been hiking in deep snow. You’ve been up in the mountains, cutting down trees. Pushing trucks out of snow ditches. And trying to record the whole thing.

Pine Lake Ale House

And there’s a space open right at the front. Just for you.

Prince Ehreth and the Kingdom of Dreams #2

PEatKoD, Stories 2 Comments

Somewhere in the East, a cold wind was blowing.

Almaden was in his war-study, pouring over ancient chronicles of battle from the Rayline front. He stroked his thick black goatee and stared at the aged, faded scribblings. A candle was flickering in the window.

It blew out.

Without light, Almaden froze but immediately placed his right hand on the hilt of his magnificent golden scimitar, Gioza.

So we had our trees. Life was good.

But I hadn’t documented any Weekend Warrior cases.

I began to reconcile my loss. You know, maybe it was better this way. We’d get home around 3-4, get some dinner, get the tree up. I should be more happy about this.

The mood in The Element was lifted compared to driving up. Let’s be honest. Everyone was on edge going up the mountain. And it’s a long trip. People get hungry. They have to go the bathroom. Getting there is scary. It’s stressful and nerve wracking. It’s dangerous.

But now we get to drive by all the other mountain goers with a trophy on our vehicle. And the only thing left to do is is make it home.

That’s right bitches, because we made it to the top that day. Completion of the AOTCEEA 2 was looking good.

And it was only 2pm! Sigh…

So after everyone took a well deserved bladder break, we set about getting out on foot and exploring the immediate terrain.

The Element

Let me take a moment to give proper thanks to Pit Boss for his elite driving skills.

Let me also take a moment to give a shout out to the designers of the The Element for making a truly awesome piece of machinery.

You see, this is all you need. You’re looking at it. You want a tree up in the mountains? Well here you go. Slap some chains on and press the gas. Lightly. Bring a saw.

Twitter Feeds and Other Updates

Yeah! Mini-site redesign when I need to be at work tomorrow at 8:30. Good idea!

Anyway. Some stuff on the right moved around. I added a Twitter feed and bumped it to the top under recent posts. Fixed up the broken-ass 360 gamer card (finally) and shuffled a few other things around.

I’m sure you all care about this very much as this is very important to your daily existence. What would you do without me?

Really, the whole blog needs an overhaul soon. It’s getting creaky and I’m getting tired of the way certain things look. But that’s like, an all day project. And I’d rather be out doing stuff. Or like, you know, playing games.

Right, so getting trees.

We skipped the mega-breakfast this time and opted for the a quick trip to Starbucks for some drip coffee and some turkey bacon sandwiches. And why not, throw in some protein plates. It could be a long day.

Boy, we had no idea.

The day started at 9am. We eventually took exit 47 off the I-90 around 10:30am. Then the real fun began.

Trees.

It’s that time of year. You can smell it in the air. Everywhere you go.

Fresh, live pine.

Yes, you know you love it and you know you want it. If you’re allergic to it, you might have suicidal thoughts. Don’t do it.

The 1st Annual Official Tree Cutting Exploration-Expedition Adventure (AOTCEEA for short, pronounced Ay-ot-see-uh) was a response to this primal tree gathering urge. AOTCEEA 1 involved an epic adventure including a long, icy hike up and through treacherous terrain with an axe and saw, carrying a noble fir back through said terrain, watching multiple people lose all control of their vehicles, and nearly getting killed by said vehicles numerous times.

Prince Ehreth and the Kingdom of Dreams #1

PEatKoD, Stories 3 Comments

Sneedler was sitting in drivers seat of his six-wheeled Wagon of Time and Science. The wagon groaned and creaked as it traveled along the dirt road, pulled by two horses, Scout and Micki. Vials of alchemy components rattled against various pieces of scientific equipment including a Loplopatat, a Rattle-rattler, and an ultra-rare Fantastiscopeometer.

Sneedler gripped the reigns and thought about his long time friend and ruler of the Kingdom of Dreams, Prince Ehreth. He fondly reminisced all the adventures they’ve been on and all the times the Prince had saved him from certain death.

He looked to the East and saw the Ivory Tower of Infinity on the horizon. He couldn’t wait to see his friend and Monarch again.

Close Call

He was over at Chris’ house, in his bedroom. Things were orderly. Neat. Clean. There was a large desk against the wall. A house of cards glued together rested on the desk surface. A base guitar on a stand was propped up in the corner. A mattress was lying on the floor. The way Chris liked it.

Typically, when they would hang out, they would get bored. While Brian’s house would get destroyed, Chris’ house was relatively safe from their carnage. They had to take their boredom elsewhere. They needed to get a change of pace. A change of scenery. Get the lead out.

“Let’s go for a drive. Freddies! Go look for toy Hummers or something. I need to buy a CD anyway.”

“Sounds good. Let me get the keys.”
